Procedures In Place : Food Safety

Dear Customers , Family & Friends ,
These are the procedures we here at BlackJack Acres have put in place due to the Coronavirus. Please know we here at BlackJack Acres are here for you. We care and will do all we can to help anyone during this time of need. If you know of anyone local to us that is in need please let us know and we will do all we can to help get them the things they may need. It is our philosophy that we are here to help at any time but especially during something like this when the need is greatest. Please check back often as we will be posting & sharing tips on how to get by during this time of uncertainty as well as some cute videos of the livestock just to get our minds off things. So without any further rambling on my part here are the procedures we have in place.
1. Purchases need to be requested via FB , email or by Phone ( number will be given after contacting us via FB since we are working on getting a business phone set up ) 2. During any and all transactions here on the farm a distance of 6 feet will be maintained. We are able to do this by retrieving your purchase and placing it in a designated area for you to obtain. Payment will be done in this way as well or if needed by Paypal. 3.The Farm House is cleaned daily! Cleanliness is a Major Priority at all times not just at this time. However we have increased the use of Bleach & the washing of hands has been and will always be a Priority. The livestock are checked daily and the barn , coop and rabbit hutches are cleaned regularly. The animals are given fresh water daily. 4. In delivering of supplies we will knock or ring the doorbell walk 6 feet away and wait to insure you get the supplies you need. 5. Hands will be sanitized before dropping off of any deliveries. ( deliveries are limited to those most in need only ex. elderly , vets , those without means to pick up ) 6. We have limited face masks but should you desire we wear one we will be more than happy to do so. 7. Should we become ill or in contact with anyone infected we will close the farm and will not reopen until we have been given the all clear by the officials in place , our Doctor and / or the CDC. 8. Purchases requiring us to process any live animals or food products will be done in keeping with all sanitation methods we have learned over the years from the FDA , USDA , Various Health Departments , Food Safety Classes and the U.S. Navy. Gloves will be worn after the washing of hands , Hair will be secured and although we are off grid we do have water & bleach. And are able to heat water to the boiling point to sanitize any and all equipment as well as bleaching the equipment with a water & bleach solution. We do not have running water being off grid as we are but we do have equipment for spraying and cleaning the fresh meat during and after processing. ( These procedures involving processing & food safety are done regularly and in place at all times. )

** We will not be able to offer a Co-Op this year but intend to offer it once the CDC and state feels it safe for people to gather once more. We hope you will understand and look forward to this as well as other events that have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus. **
* In closing I would like to encourage everyone to keep your small , local , independent farms in mind.We are here to serve , produce and provide you with safe & healthy food. Many of us are NOT Corporate farms and do offer things ranging from fresh meats and fruits/veggies to hides and jams an jellies and so much more. Small independent farms will NOT be getting help from the government even though now more than ever we as a nation should be not only grateful for , but encouraging & promoting independent farming. And going back to being an independent country.that is no longer dependent on a foreign food supply or retail supply. We hope this has given you some insight and peace of mind as to how we manage our farm for your safety as well as ours. It has been my entire life and is still my philosophy " If I wouldn't purchase it or eat it I am most certainly NOT going to sell it or give it to anyone to use or consume." I have very high standards and will not compromise them for anyone at any time especially concerning food.
Thank -you for your time and understanding during this current situation we are all faced with in this Nation.
Best Regards , Tina DeGeer Co-Owner @ BlackJaack Acres
